MANI‑
FESTO.
Why we made this. What we believe. What we will never do.
The timeline
used to be
humans.
Then a robot started appearing under every post. We built this to put the humans back. That’s the entire pitch.
A short history of noise.
- i.
For most of its life, X was a place where people replied to people. The replies were short. Sometimes funny. Sometimes wrong. They were the point.
- ii.
Then an account named @grok started replying under almost every popular post. Then @askperplexity. Then a flood of other bot-identified accounts. A parade of synthetic interest: language models trained on what we had already said, fed back to us at scale.
- iii.
Threads got shorter. Replies got longer. Conversation became correction. People started talking to the bot instead of each other.
- iv.
The platform built more buttons. Explain this post. Translate with Grok. Sidebars. Suggested chats. Each addition small. The cumulative effect: a feed half-occupied by a robot.
We are not against machines.
We are against
being spoken over by them.
Five things.
- The timeline is a public space. What it shows you matters.
- Tools that decide what it shows should be small, opt-in, and yours to turn off.Not bundled. Not pre-checked. Not “smart.”
- A reply box is a place for people.A bot answering a question you didn’t ask is not a reply.
- Free software with a clear job is better than paid software with twelve. This one has one job.
- We can use AI tools and still want to choose when.Choice is the whole product.
Lines we won’t cross.
- add an AI feature to a tool whose purpose is to remove AI features.
- track you. ever. there is no analytics in this code.
- sell your data. we don’t collect any to sell.
- bundle other extensions, sponsors, or “partner offers.”
- add a paid tier with “premium” toggles. the toggles are the product.
- charge for this. not now. not later.
What we’ll keep doing.
- stay free. forever.
- add a switch every time a new AI account starts spamming the timeline.
- ship updates that remove things, not add them.
- listen when you tell us we missed one.
- publish what changes, when, and why.
- work in chrome and firefox. always both.
Install
if you agree.
Each install supports the cause. Each install builds a more human timeline. Free. No account required.
